A road in Dagenham has been closed after a bin lorry caught fire.
Four fire engines have rushed to Gale Street, near Jo Richardson School, after the compactor went up in flames.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “The Brigade was called at 2.53am and fire crews from Barking, Dagenham, and East Ham fire stations are attending the incident.
“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”
Residents say they were woken by a loud explosion.
The road is currently closed to the A13.
