13-year-old questioned over taser in Loughton

A 13-year-old boy is in custody on suspicion of carrying a taser following several disturbances in Loughton.

He was arrested while officers were attending to incidents, in locations that included High Road and Old Station Road at around 1pm yesterday.

During that time a taser was discharged close to Loughton police station.

A large number of people were present and it is believed the incidents were filmed by members of the public. Police would like anyone with footage to contact them on 101. 

Speaking afterwards, Inspector Ant Alcock from Loughton CID said: “Today’s disturbances were, thankfully, not the norm in Loughton.”

“We don’t want anyone in the town to feel intimidated as they go about their daily business and I would encourage anyone with available footage, or any witnesses who haven’t yet spoken to our officers, to call Loughton police station on 101.”

“The more information we have, the more pieces we can add to the puzzle, and we can work to prevent any future disturbances of this size.”
