Ravi Bopara has signed a contract to stay at Essex County Cricket Club in 2019.
The all-rounder, who has spent his entire domestic career at Chelmsford, was the club’s leading run scorer in the 2018 County Championship with 751 at an average of 41.72.
Bopara, 33, made his first-class debut for Essex in 2002 and has also played 13 tests for England as well as 120 ODIs and 38 T20 matches.
He said he “still have plenty of years left” and is hoping the team can build on last season’s third-place finish in the 2018 County Championship Division One.
“We had a good campaign in the County Championship last year, but know we can do better,” said Bopara. “We have a good blend of youth and experience in the dressing room and the depth to challenge for the title, so that’s our goal for next season.”
Head Coach Anthony McGrath called Bopara, who grew up in Forest Gate, “an integral part of team” who “will have a big role to play for us next year.”Tags: Essex Cricket, Cricket
