Police say a 14-year-old boy fatally stabbed in Leyton was targeted by three people in a car, which had crashed into the victim’s moped.

Officers were called to Bickley Road just before 6.30pm yesterday, where they found the teenager with knife wounds.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead shortly after 7pm.

It is now believed he was riding a moped before being in a collision with a vehicle, after which three men got out, stabbed the victim and then drove off.

The car involved is believed to be a black Mercedes B Class which will now have extensive damage at the front of the car.

“Everything that we have learned about this attack so far indicates it was targeted and intent on lethal force from the outset,” said DCI Larry Smith from the Homicide and Major Crime Command. “We are doing everything we can to catch those who carried out this cowardly attack and bring them to justice.”

An investigation has started but so far no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers via 101 quoting reference 5720/8Jan or on 020 8345 3985.

Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
