The 17-year-old boy, from Wanstead, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court on Friday, 11 January.
He has been remanded into youth detention and will appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 14 January.
Lyndon Davis was stabbed to death in Padnall Road, Chadwell Heath at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, 14 March 2018.
He was taken to hospital but unfortunately passed away.
Five other teenagers from Ilford, whose ages range from 15 to 17, have also been charged with Lyndon’s murder.
They will appear at the Old Bailey for a pre-trial preparation hearing on Monday as well.
A 34-year-old man arrested during the early stages of the investigation will have no further action taken against him.
