127 years given to the men responsible for two violent break-ins in Thurrock

Seven men have been jailed for a total of 127 years over two violent break-ins in Tilbury and Horndon-on-the-Hill.

Jeremiah James, from Grays, received 25 years for his role in both crimes, which targeted an elderly person and a family.

“The offence at Saffron House is the worst I have seen in 25 years,” said Her Honour Justice Leigh.

“You are cold, callous, violent young men devoid of emotion.”

At Basildon Crown Court on Friday, 18 January, they received the following sentences:

Ayomide Ijelu, 23, jailed for 28 years.
Jeremiah Johnson, 27, jailed 25 years.
Salih Bulbuller, 22, jailed for 18 and-a-half years.
Wesley Williams, 32, was jailed for 18 years.
Mark Bonsu, 25, jailed for 18 years.
Emmanuel Ijelu, 27, jailed for 10 years.
Barry Douglas, 26, jailed for 10 years.

Mark Bonsu is from Newham while the other five men are from Hackney.

“Crimes like these can have long-lasting impacts on the victim and we leave no stone unturned to find and bring to justice those responsible,” said Detective Inspector Steve Nelson.

“I want to again pay tribute to the bravery of the victims. They have endured an unimaginable and traumatic ordeal and hope they can now begin to rebuild their lives.”
