It’s believed the thieves entered through a window of the All Saints Church on Old Church Road.
They then stole chalices, a ciborium and other objects.
“These items are of great importance to the church and its congregation,” said PC Nicole Garcia.
“The idea that someone would break into a place of worship is cause for concern.”
She added that the stolen goods are distinctive and would have stood out.
“I would urge anyone who has been offered them for sale to contact us.”
It happened overnight between Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 November 2018.
