Flynn Prevost, 60, of Thornbrook, Thornwood, was convicted of attempted murder on Friday at Chelmsford Crown Court.
He launched into an attack after experiencing road rage in Epping New Road, on Saturday, 22 September 2018.
Prevost got into a physical struggle with a 37-year-old and knifed him 15 times in the face, neck, back and head.
He then got back into his car and drove off.
The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Prevost turned himself in at Loughton police station three days later and was charged and arrested on the same day.
