Flynn Prevost attacked a 37-year-old man in September 2018 before driving off, leaving him injured in the road.
The pair had got into an altercation in Epping New Road after the victim beeped his horn at Prevost.
It quickly turned physical and the man was stabbed in the head, face, neck and back.
Prevost, of Thornbrook, Thornwood, was found guilty of attempted murder following a trial last month and was sentenced today to 16 years in prison plus a five year extension on licence.
“This was a brutal attack on a man whose life has significantly changed as a result of a stranger’s shocking actions,” said DC Stephen Baker, from Essex Police.
“Flynn Prevost is a violent individual whose unwarranted, excessive and disproportionate attack left the victim fearing for his life simply because Prevost took umbrage to the victim sounding his car horn in response to his dangerous and aggressive driving.
“While this can’t change the mental or physical trauma the victim has to endure every day following the attack, I hope this sentence brings some sense of justice to him with the knowledge that this violent individual has been jailed for his appalling actions.”
