Hutton man admits weapons offences after police find crossbow in car boot in Romford Market

This crossbow was among the weapons police found in Sidoli’s car.

A man from Hutton has pleaded guilty to a series of weapons offences after police found an imitation firearm and a crossbow in his car near Romford Market.

John Sidoli’s car was stopped in Market Link at around 6.20pm on Thursday, 6 June when it aroused the suspicions of police.

They noticed cannabis residue and carried out a search of the vehicle under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

In the boot, the officers found the crossbow, an imitation handgun, a knife, and an adapted snooker cue.

Police found four weapons in the car boot.

At Barkingside Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Sidoli admitted three counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and one count of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.

The 57-year-old, of Whittington Road, was remanded to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court for sentencing next week.
