One man has died after suffering nearly 100% burns.
Police have charged a 37-year-old with murder, attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life. He is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates Court today.
Yesterday, a 51-year-old man appeared at the same court charged with the same offences. He is due to appear at Central Criminal Court next Tuesday.
Emergency services responded to a fire near the A406 in Ilford at around 23.45pm on Tuesday night.
They found two men living under tarpaulin on a temporary campsite constructed on scrubland which police suspect was home to a small number of people.
Both were rushed to hospital but one victim who suffered nearly 100% burns died just hours after arriving at the Royal London Hospital.
The second man was taken to Broomfield Hospital where he remains in an induced coma and is in a critical condition.
Enquiries are continuing to establish the cause of the fire, which is currently being treated as suspicious.
