The Swan, in Brentwood High Street, had the action taken against it after a series of dawn raids on Wednesday, 12 June.
Police arrested 18 people and charged four men with drug offences the next day.
Officers told a sub-committee of Brentwood Borough Council about their concerns yesterday.
It was agreed that The Swan’s license would be suspended until a full hearing could take place.
It has 21 days to appeal the decision but cannot sell alcohol or provide regulated entertainment until it has been heard before a magistrates court.
“Last week I promised that we would support pubs and clubs in tackling the ongoing issue of Class A drug supply in Brentwood,” said Chief Inspector, Lewis Basford.
“I want to assure you that this remains the case, except in cases where this problem is wilfully ignored, or simply accepted, by management on the premises and reported drug taking is allowed in the open with no consequences.
“I am pleased that the councillors understood the issues and decided that suspension of the licence was the most appropriate step to take at this time.”
The other 14 people arrested have been released under investigation as enquiries continue.Tags: Brentwood
