Man arrested in Ilford during search for missing person

Mohammed Shah Subhani hasn’t been seen for nearly two months.

A commercial property in Ilford has been searched in connection with the disappearance of a man from west London.

Mohammed Shah Subhani, 27, has not been seen or heard from for nearly two months.

A 23-year-old man was arrested during the police search yesterday morning on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and he has been released under investigation.

Mohammed was last seen in Heston on Tuesday, 7 May. His family reported him missing when he did not return home on that same day.

On Wednesday, 19 June, Mohammed’s white Audi Q3 was recovered in Camden, following reports that a group of men inside it had been involved in an argument with another group.

The occupants of the car were alleged to have been in possession of weapons and the vehicle crashed during a police pursuit.

The suspects then fled on foot and have not yet been identified or arrested.

CCTV image of Mohammed’s vehicle on the day he disappeared.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “Our investigation into Mohammed’s disappearance continues and this warrant will hopefully provide us with further information about what has happened to him.

“Although we have previously recovered his white Audi Q3, I would like to repeat my request for the public’s help to track its movements. It was captured on CCTV the day he went missing and was located by officers – on cloned plates – on 19 June. Where has it been?

“Three men were seen running from the car that day. Who were they? The fact they were in possession of a car belonging to a missing person is not a positive position to be in, however I would urge them to come forward.”

The Metropolitan Police is offering a £20,000 reward both for information leading to the whereabouts of Mohammed, and also information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of anyone connected with his disappearance.

Any witnesses to the incident on Robert Street in Camden, or anyone with any information about Mohammed’s whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 or contact them via Twitter @MetCC quote 19MIS017114.

To give information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
