Sweet Like Chocolate follows the lives of two boys living in London during two different times and brings them crashing together
Clout! will see several artists and theatre companies putting on performances in the borough.
They’ll include comedy, dance, family, music and burlesque shows.
“It’s so much better than the cinema, you get to see real life people and interact with them,” said Artistic Director for Studio 3 Arts, Liza Vallance.
“You get that feeling of seeing something live unraveling before your eyes. There’s nothing quite like it.”
She told Time 107.5 there’s one performance titled ‘Hip Hip I’m Gay’ by Ashleigh Owen that she’s really looking forward to seeing:
“I kind of fell in love with the title before I even read the description of the show to be honest.
“It’s a kind of pastiche comedy musical all about the mental health associations with coming out as a young person. It’s done in quite a tongue in cheek way.”
Hip Hip I’m Gay features a dynamic and creative cast
This is the second year in a row that the festival is being held in Barking and Dagenham after most shows sold out last year.
“Contrary to what some of the art sector would have us believe, theatre is truly there for everyone,” added Liza
“That is what Clout! is trying to say; it doesn’t matter who you are or what your background is, you will find something you enjoy on the programme.
“I defy anyone to find something that they don’t connect with!”
Studio 3 Arts will host the events at two sites in Galleon Community Centre and their new venue at Unit 46, Vicarage Field Shopping Centre.
It is on until Sunday, 14 July and tickets are from £5 each.
