Family of Gallows Corner collision victim appeal for witnesses and reveal she donated organs to save lives

Five people have received transplants from Ellie (pictured above)

The family of a young woman from Gidea Park, who died in a collision at Gallows Corner, are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Ellie Isaacs, 22, passed away in hospital two days after the collision last month.

The former Marshall’s Park student was a pedestrian in the incident, which also involved a car.

“She was a lovely girl, full of life,” her brother, Jack, told Time 107.5. “Very upbeat, very loving and caring.

Describing Ellie as “a great character”, Jack said she was very family-orientated.

As well her brother, she had two sisters but Ellie always used to jokingly insist she was the favourite child in the family.

“She used to say to everybody ‘I’m your fave, aren’t I?'” Jack said. “She’d sign cards saying ‘to your fave’ and ‘from your fave’.

“But then we all realised after that actually everybody got the same card! She was a fantastic character and she really was full of life.”

Following the collision at around 8.50pm on Wednesday, 19 June, Ellie was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

But, sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on the afternoon of Friday, 21 June.

Ellie was an organ donor and has saved several lives.

Her family received a letter from NHS Blood and Transplant last week, detailing some of those she has helped.

A seven-year-old boy received a kidney after three-and-a-half-years on a waiting list.

A woman in her 20s received a double-lung transplant, while a man in his 30s was given a kidney and pancreas transplant.

Ellie’s liver was also split to provide transplants for a baby girl and a woman in her 50s.

Jack said he would now urge people to become organ donors, and that he and his family were grateful for the support and well-wishes they have received from people who knew Ellie.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to get in touch with them.

The driver of the vehicle involved stopped at the scene and was not arrested.

The police officer leading the investigation, Detective Sergeant Jose Qureshi, said: “Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

“I am asking for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dash cam footage, to make contact with us as soon as possible.”

Jack added that he and his family really wanted people to come forward to provide the family with closure.

“We’ve got so many questions that we need answers to,” he said. “Hopefully there’s someone out there that’s seen something and can give us some information to help us.”
