Van fire closes road in Dagenham

A mobile food van has gone up in flames, closing a road near Becontree station.

Gale Street is blocked in both directions between Hedgemans Road to Ivyhouse Road, after the blaze this afternoon.

13 people called 999 according to the London Fire Brigade, with the first reports coming in at around 1.20pm.

Firefighters rushed to tackle the blaze (credit: Ina Vladimirova)

Firefighters attended and the flames were extinguished within 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is not known.
