The designer, Otis Griffith, started making the artwork as a hobby alongside his role as a lecturer in electrical installation at Havering College.
Many of his pieces include materials found in the River Thames in Rainham where he was shocked by how many recycling bags he could fill up.
As well as The Havering Show, Otis has had his work on display for three years at Thames Chase in Cranham. He hopes the new display will continue to highlight issues with waste.
Mr Griffith said: “When you see these videos of what’s actually in our oceans and waterways, it’s just disgusting so it was a point of actually making something that would stand out and give people the time to think about what they’re actually doing with their waste.
“I often take trips down to the Thames and find my driftwood for the stands for my bird sculptures and other animal sculptures. People just get in touch with me if they’ve got any stuff that I can use left in their garage.”
The Havering Show takes place on Sunday 25, August and Monday 26, August at Harrow Lodge Park in Hornchurch. More information can be found here.
