More than 21,000 attend the Havering Show

This year’s Havering Show was the hottest yet, as temperatures reached 32°C.

More than 21,000 people went to the event over the bank holiday weekend for the show’s 41st year.

The weekend featured a variety of music from acts such as reggae group Aswad, British rock band Toploader and club anthem singer Alison Limerick.

Mark Dover, the day time show presenter on Time 107.5, hosted the main stage and provided entertainment between acts.

“All of the acts were superb, I don’t think anyone could criticise any of the musicians,” said Lorna Waters, Station Manager of Time 107.5. “The crowd in front of the main stage was absolutely brilliant, everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.

“There were young and old people dancing together all day long and in that heat it was amazing they stayed so long.”

This was the first year that people had to pay to attend the show, with tickets costing £3 in advance or £4 on the gate.

Additional features this year included a new mini farm where families could pet farm animals and a sport zone.

Various acts from singers to wrestlers also took to the Fairkytes Live Stage and the Community Performance Stage, which returned to showcase local talent.

There was a range of charity stalls, to help raise awareness for a variety of good causes in Havering.

One of the stalls was for Mitchell’s Miracles; Kristel Huth from the charity told Time 107.5: “It was definitely better organised (than previous years). I felt, as a charity stall, that we were more included in the event than we have been in the last few years. Overall it was brilliant.”

Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said: “It was great to see the community unite and enjoy themselves in celebration of Havering over the bank holiday weekend.

“The Show had something for everyone, from music acts to fun fairs, wrestling displays to farm animals. It also gave visitors a chance to speak to many Council services and local organisations about their work in Havering.

“Thank you to everyone who came along and once again made it a great show. We would also like to thank our sponsors and supporters London City Airport, Marlborough Highways, Everyone Active, Time 107.5FM, Razzamatazz, and Romford Recorder.”
