Bengal Spice had stood empty for around a year before the fire
The fire broke out at Bengal Spice in New Road at around 7.45pm on Monday evening.
Approximately 25 firefighters attended to deal with the blaze, which was brought under control by 9.25pm
In a statement, London Fire Brigade said: “The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the cause of the fire was due to an electrical fault in lighting.”
The takeaway is believed to have been closed for about a year prior to it going up in flames.
