Isaac could face a 16-week wait for replacement buggy
The special item, described as a cross between a wheelchair and a buggy, belongs to Dawn Wybrow’s six-year-old son Isaac, who has Down syndrome and is housebound without it.
The family has been told they could face a 16-week wait to get a replacement.
The theft comes just two days before he is due back at his school in Chelmsford.
It is believed the car was taken at some point between 9pm last night and 6.45am this morning.
The black Toyota CHR also had a blue badge displayed in the car.
Dawn, 45, said: “Because he has Down syndrome, he has low muscle tone, he tires easily, he can’t walk long distances. He can probably walk 100 metres without needing a buggy.”
“We basically can’t leave the house without the buggy.
“Even with the blue badge, it means if we go out anyway in the car, we can’t now park in the disabled spaces which makes it much more difficult to get anywhere.
“Isaac doesn’t deal with change particularly well and he’s used to that buggy. Even if we were able to get a replacement of some sort sooner, it’s going to be difficult for Isaac to adapt to that change.”
The stolen car’s registration number is EY68 WXD.
If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of the car or buggy, contact police on 101.
