Detectives want to identify the two women after an elderly woman had cash stolen while shopping
The 79-year-old was targeted while she was in a shop in High Road, Ilford on Sunday, 3 March.
She was approached by two women, who were both pretending to look at items on an opposite shelf.
One woman proceeded to unzip the victim’s shoulder bag. She then attempted to remove her purse, before being disturbed.
She came back again and successfully removed the purse and both suspects walked away.
£50 cash and bank cards were taken.
PC Terry Hughes, based in Ilford, said: “I would urge anyone who recognises these women to contact us so that we can prevent them from targeting other vulnerable members of our community.”
There have been no arrests although enquiries are ongoing.
