Balconies damaged in Harold Wood flat fire

Residents in a block of flats in Harold Wood have had a lucky escape after a blaze on a balcony at the building.

The flats, in Safflower Lane, were evacuated after the blaze at around 2.50pm today.

60 firefighters were called to tackle the flames, which damaged balconies on the ground, first, second and third floors.

Crews had brought the blaze under control by 3.40pm and thankfully, nobody was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
