Police were called at 9.15am this morning to reports of a man assaulting a woman in Woodford Avenue.
Locals assisted by restraining the suspect before help arrived.
A spokesman for the Met said: “A man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and taken into custody where he remains.”
The investigation continues.
