Appeal for dash cam footage following fatal A13 collision in Dagenham

Police are appealing for information and dash cam footage after a man was hit by a car on the A13 in Dagenham.

A 36-year-old man was believed to be walking in the road on the westbound carriageway when the collision occurred in the early hours on Sunday, 15 September. 

The black BMW 5 series involved didn’t stop but the driver returned to the scene a short time later.

Officers were called at 3.50am to reports of the seriously injured man.  He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim had been at the Gomora nightclub in Ripple Road prior to the incident.

The vehicle involved was found abandoned just over a mile away near the Roundhouse pub in Porters Avenue, Dagenham.

The Met said: “A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving under the influence of alcohol.

“He was taken into custody and later released under investigation.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage of the collision to contact them immediately.
