Their ‘one bottle-one planet’ campaign supports the scheme, which encourages local businesses to provide free tap water to residents on request.
Swapping single-use plastic bottles for reusable ones, is also one of the ways the council is raising awareness of environmental issues throughout National Recycling Week.
The team will be in the Liberty Shopping Centre in Romford on Thursday, 26 September, between 9am-4.30pm, and at Myplace in Harold Hill on Friday, 27 September, between 12pm-4pm.
Further advice for residents looking to reduce the use of plastic in the home, at work and at school will be offered.
Councillor Osman Dervish, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We want to help change and raise awareness on the best way we can reduce our use of plastic in our everyday lives. This is why we are supporting Recycle Week.
“With this in mind, we encourage everyone to use free water refill stations around the borough.
“We will be continuing to provide as many opportunities as we can, to encourage our residents to make healthier and more sustainable choices to to help minimise our waste and consider what changes we can make to help provide a greener environment for Havering.”
Staff will also be visiting Rainham Village Children’s Centre on Wednesday, 25 September between 11am-2pm to talk about recycling and waste reduction with families.
Recycle week commenced Monday, 23 September.
