Body recovered from burning van in Noak Hill

Police have recovered a body, believed to be a man, from a burning van in Noak Hill.

They were called to reports of a van on fire in Chequers Road at around 5.20pm yesterday evening. 

The London Fire Brigade attended and helped put out the blaze. 

Officers then discovered a body inside the vehicle. 

“At this early stage, this death is being treated as unexplained,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. 

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. 

Officers remain at the scene.
