An air ambulance was called to the junction with Ford Road at around 8.15am today, according to London Ambulance Service.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 8.15am this morning to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the Heathway in Dagenham.
“We dispatched an incident response officer, two medics in response cars and an ambulance crew to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“Crews treated a man at the scene and took him by air to a major trauma centre.”
A Met Police spokesperson said the motorcyclist has suffered potentially life-changing injuries.
Anyone with information or dash cam footage of the collision is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 1518/14OCT.
DIVERSION- Bus routes 173,174 and 175 are on diversion due to a road traffic collision at Heathway. Buses are diverted via New Road, Ballards Road, Church Lane, Siviter Way, Church Elm Lane and Heathway.
