New Orient coach Carl Fletcher “has chosen a good team” – Bournemouth boss

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe says he is pleased for new Leyton Orient head coach Carl Fletcher, who “has chosen a good team.”

The 39-year-old former midfielder was unveiled as the news O’s boss on Wednesday, after it was announced last month that interim head coach Ross Embleton was reverting to his previous role as assistant.

Fletcher had been working at Bournemouth since 2013, and spent time as coach of both the under 18 and under 23 teams. More recently, he had been overseeing the progress of Bournemouth players who were out on loan.

Speaking to the media today, Howe said: “He goes with our best wishes. There’s a bit of sadness, of course, because you’re using a really valued member of your team.

“But I want everyone in my team to fulfill their dreams and max their ability.

“When you build a staff around you, you want the best people possible. Carl’s always been a very valued member of staff, good experience with the 18s, the 23s, loan manager so he’s done various roles that have developed him as a person.

“He wanted to get back into management. I think he’s chosen a good team to do it with and I hope it goes well for him.”

Fletcher will be in the stands as Orient travel to Grimsby tomorrow in League Two, with Embleton taking charge for the final time.

Fletcher will then be in the dugout for Tuesday night’s trip to Plymouth, a side he managed between 2011 and 2013.
