Al-Ali was sentenced today
Muahammed Al-Ali, 24, of Sisley Road, was one of three men that violently attacked the victim in February 2018.
They arrived in Burges Road in a lexus and hit the victim with a brick before pouring the corrosive substance over his face.
His injuries were so bad that surgeons had to reconstruct his eyelid, as well as carry out a number of skin grafts.
Investigators identified the three suspects and they were all charged with a variety of offences.
But one of the men, a 27-year-old, passed away on Saturday, 29 June 2019, before the trial began.
The other two, Al-Ali and Sahme Mohammed, 28, were both found guilty of throwing a noxious substance with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm and grievous bodily harm with intent.
Al-Ali was sentenced today at Snaresbrook Crown Court to serve 20 years’ imprisonment – made up of 15 years’ behind bars with five years on license.
Mohammed, of Park Avenue, East Ham, will be sentenced in January 2020.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Faye Cook of Newham Police said: “The injuries sustained by the victim were devastating. He has undergone and continues to undergo a long and painful schedule of treatment.
“I sincerely hope that he can find a measure of comfort in the sentence handed down today.”
Mohammed was arrested on 16 February, while Al-Ali was arrested on 26 February. Both were charged and remanded in custody until trial, which concluded on Thursday, 15 August.
