Man arrested over fatal crash outside Loughton school

The collision happened near Debden Park High School

A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a schoolboy died in a crash in Loughton.

The boy, aged 12, passed away after the collision near Debden Park High School, in Willingale Road, at around 3.20pm yesterday.

The suspect was detained last night on suspicion of murder, six offences of attempted murder, one offence of causing death by dangerous driving, six offences of causing serious injury by driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and driving without insurance.

Essex Police Chief Superintendent Tracey Harman said: “There is no wider threat to the public at this time, but we continue to ask anyone with information to come forward and assist with our enquiries.

“If you have information about this incident please call 101 and quote incident 726 of Monday, 2 December.

Six other people were injured in the collision. They are: two 15-year-old boys, a 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy and a 23-year-old woman.

Police say none of their injuries are life-changing or life-threatening.
