West Ham United has re-signed goalkeeper Darren Randolph from Championship side Middlesbrough.
The 32-year-old becomes the first signing of the new David Moyes era at London Stadium and has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal.
He is in contention to start against Everton on Saturday, with Lukasz Fabianski ruled out with injury and Roberto out of favour after several unimpressive performances.
David Martin is Moyes’ other option between the sticks.
“I’m delighted to be back at West Ham United,” Randolph said. “I had two great years at the club previously and still have a lot of friends here, so I had no hesitation in coming back. West Ham is a massive club, with fantastic supporters and an excellent squad of players.
“It’s a great challenge for me and I am really looking forward to working with the goalkeepers here and helping the team in any way I can.”
Randolph has 42 caps for the Republic of Ireland, and has also previously played for Charlton, Motherwell, and Birmingham City.
In his previous spell at West Ham, between 2015 and 2017, Randolph played in the final game at the Boleyn Ground and the first match at London Stadium.
After falling behind Adrian under Slaven Bilic, Randolph moved to Middlesbrough.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Middlesbrough – the management, staff, players and fans – for their support,” Randolph said. “I had a great time there and wish them all the very best for the rest of the season.
“This opportunity was simply too good to turn down, though. It’s a great feeling to be back in the Premier League with such a fantastic club, and I can’t wait to get started.”
He moves to West Ham for an undisclosed fee.
