The competition has launched to recognise those who make Havering a great place to live
‘Mum’s Guide to Romford’ has launched a new competition to recognise all the people and companies who make the area a great place to raise a family.
Anyone operating in the borough can be nominated for one of the ten categories.
This is the first year the event is running.
Jane Ward, who runs the competition said: “In all of the communities around Havering, there are people who work tirelessly to set up events and to run things behind the scenes for local people, and they don’t get alot of recognition for that.
“This is a really good opportunity for us to champion those people and give them something back.
“Every business struggles in this economy, especially local shops on the high street who struggle against the online businesses; there’s a lot of competition in every sector.
“This is a great way for people to say ‘I do this every Tuesday with my kids and it’s really fantastic’.”
The ten categories are:
Best Activity Class or Group for Under 5s
Best Activity Class or Group for School-age Children
Best Holiday Club or Class
Best Pre/Post-natal Support Service
Best Lifestyle Service for Parents
Best Party and Celebrations Provider
Most Family-friendly Café/Restaurant
Best Local Shop
Best Local Event
Local Volunteer of the Year
Votes can be made here.
The closing date for votes is on Saturday, 15 February.
