Final four members of drug dealing gang operating across Epping Forest jailed

Jordan Worrie, Kalem Khan, Mateen Khan and Zia Rehman have been jailed

The final four members of a ‘county line’ drug dealing gang, who sold illegal substances across Epping Forest, have been jailed.

Collectively, the four individuals received nearly 30 years in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, 11 February.

In total, there are now 25 members of the gang who have been sentenced for a combined amount of 57 years.

The gangs were believed to be involved in the supply of Class A drugs and thought to make roughly in the region of £3,000 per day from the sale of illegal substances.

Essex Police launched an investigation in May last year, targeting the gangs in the Debden, Loughton, Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell, Limes Farm and Hainault areas of the district.

Investigations established they were also running ‘county lines’ in Wales, Cheshire and Norfolk.

The operation was jointly led by Essex Police’s West local policing teams and Operation Raptor.

Epping Forest Council provided £5,000 towards the cost of the policing operation which investigated key members.

After a six-month investigation, on Tuesday, 13 November 2018, it resulted in the execution of 19 warrants across the district.

There were 24 people arrested for offences ranging from possession of drugs, to possession with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Raids seized £30,000 worth of high purity cocaine as well as crack and heroin and more than £83,000 in cash.

Officers also discovered and dismantled cannabis farms in Harlow and recovered a haul of the drug worth up to £500,000.

The latest four individuals to be sentenced after being found guilty at trial are:

Kaleem Khan, 28, of Manford Way, Hainault, who was jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of three counts of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, two counts of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug, possessing a Class B drug, being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug and three counts of conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs;

Mateen Khan, 25 of Manford Way, Hainault, was jailed for eight years after being found guilty of three counts of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, three counts of being concerned in the supply of Class A and B drugs and four counts of conspiring to supply Class A and B drugs.

Zia Rehmen, 26 of Barley Lane, Goodmayes, was jailed for eight years after being found guilty of three counts of being concerned in the supply of Class A and B drugs.

Jordan Worrie, 19, of New North Road, Hainault was jailed for 18-months after he was found guilty of conspiring to supply a Class A drug.

Chief Insp Lewis Basford, District Commander for Brentwood and Epping Forest District, said: “Essex Police has continued to take the fight to gangs and individuals who mistakenly think they can sell drugs on the streets of our county – they can’t.

“Whether we can arrest and charge someone quickly or we spend months carrying out a painstaking investigation, we will do whatever it takes to bring these people to justice.

“And, as this case shows, we will continue to take criminals off of our streets and put them behind bars and seize illegal drugs so they can no longer be sold for money or cause harm to those who take them.

“As long as people continue to attempt to sell drugs in our county we will continue to hunt them down and bring them to justice and, if that takes days or, as in this case, an operation that runs for months, we will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of them.

“I would like to reassure the residents of Epping Forest District that where we receive information that criminals, gangs or drug dealers are active in their area we will, as today shows, act on that.

“I would also like to send a clear message to drug dealers not to bother coming to Essex.”
