Jake Pittaway was sentenced last week
Jake Pittaway, 22, targeted his former partner after she broke up with him last year.
He armed himself with a pair of scissors during one of the attacks and on another occasion, he punched her in the back of the head as she entered her home.
During the first of the three incidents, which took place in September and October 2019, the victim was asleep in bed when Pittaway smashed a window at the property.
She was awoken and called 999 as he ran off.
Nine days later, Pittaway followed the woman to her home and punched her from behind. He then went on to cause damage to her bedroom and hallway, using a bike chain.
He was finally arrested after approaching the woman outside her address as she was dropped home by friends.
He came from an alleyway holding a pair of scissors and assaulted the victim.
But police managed to detain him on that third occasion and he was arrested.
On Tuesday, 18 February, Pittaway, of no fixed address, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment following his convictions for possession of a blade in a public place, assault by beating and three counts of criminal damage.
Investigating officer PC Kelly Adams, of Grays Domestic Abuse Investigations Team, said: “Pittaway subjected his former partner to abuse and violence after she ended their relationship. His behaviour escalated rapidly in just a month.
“Pittaway started off by breaking a window at her home and he ended up being arrested for assaulting her while in possession of a weapon.
“We have been supporting the victim and brought the case to court where he has since been jailed for two years.”
