Gallions Reach: Two more arrested over Shanur Ahmed murder

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 16-year-old boy in Gallions Reach.

Shanur Ahmed’s body was discovered near to the DLR station in Atlantis Avenue on Tuesday, 3 March.

A post-mortem found he had suffered a fatal head injury.

This morning, investigators arrested two 18-year-old men on suspicion of murder and robbery.

They remain in custody and are the latest of eight arrests made by police.

Four boys, aged 16 and 17, who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed until early April. Three of them have also been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with an incident in Prince Regent Lane the day before Shanur’s body was found.

Police are treating it as being linked to Shanur’s death.

A 20-year-old man has been released with no further action.

And a 17-year-old male from Canning Town was charged on Saturday, 7 March with murder, affray, and possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared in custody at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance.
