Man charged over deaths of 39 Vietnamese nationals found in Grays

A man’s been charged in connection with an investigation into the deaths of 39 Vietnamese nationals in Grays.

Valentin Calota, 37, of Cossington Road, Birmingham, will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court today.

Their bodies were found in the back of a lorry near Lakeside in October last year.

He’s been charged with conspiring to do an act to facilitate the commission of a breach of UK immigration law by a non-EU person between Tuesday, 1 May 2018 and Thursday, 24 October 2019.
