A block of flats caught fire in Hadleigh Close at around 3.30am this morning.
The London Fire Brigade received 25 calls about the blaze, including from one caller who was trapped inside and unable to escape due to the fire, heat and smoke.
They were given vital fire survival guidance before ten fire engines and 80 firefighters arrived at the scene.
Crews found the roof was alight and used a 13.5 metre ladder to save two people who were stuck on the fourth floor.
One more person was rescued from the same floor using an internal staircase.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 5.40am.
Tower Hamlets Council officers are now at the scene to provide support to the families who have been forced to leave their homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
