The left back took part in a conference call with staff and thanked them for their efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.
“It was fantastic to speak to all the frontline NHS staff,” Cresswell said. “On behalf of myself, and my family, I just want to say to all key workers, keep up the great work. We appreciate it so much, and I know everyone at West Ham does as well, so thank you for everything you’re doing for us all.”
Staff asked Cresswell about his life in lockdown, training, his teammates and career so far, as well as his thoughts on who is most deserving of the Premier League title.
“It was wonderful to join with colleagues in a webinar with Aaron Cresswell of West Ham United,” said BHRUT Chairman Joe Fielder, a West Ham season ticket holder. “Aaron applauded the magnificent work of all of our staff and we in turn were able to thank him and the club for their fantastic support to our staff, our patients and our charity.”
West Ham has been supporting hospitals in east London and Essex during the coronavirus pandemic.
Fundraising initiatives include donating replica home and away shirts to Barts Health NHS Trust and BHRUT, which between them run several hospitals across the region.
Some shirts are for staff and patients, while other are to be used for auctions.
Both trusts have also received framed prints signed by the West Ham first team.
