The car stopped just short of a precipice next to the track (credit: @BTPLondon)
The vehicle came to a stop when it hit a barrier, just inches before a steep drop onto the tracks below.
The collision happened just before midday today, with British Transport Police saying they were called at 11.52am
Greater Anglia trains were still able to run past and no delays to services were reported.
We’ve responded to a call to Forest Lane, Forest Gate alongside colleagues from @MPSNewham, @LFBNewham & @networkrail following reports of a car going through the railway boundary wall.
Thankfully no one injured.
