Emergency services were called to the junction with Ardleigh Green Road and Squirrels Heath Road to reports a woman had fallen from the pedestrian footbridge.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the incident at 10.14am this morning.
“We dispatched an advanced paramedic, an ambulance crew, a medic in a car and an incident response officer,” they said. “We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance, with the first of our medics arriving within six minutes.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took them a major trauma centre.”
Police say she is in a serious condition.
The A127 was closed in both directions as a result of the incident but has since reopened.
