Two drug dealers have been jailed for three years for supplying crack cocaine and heroin in Thurrock.

Iztvan Stuurman, 28, of Arisdale Close, South Ockendon, and Joel Johnson, 27, of no fixed address, both receive a three-year concurrent sentence for the crime at Basildon Crown Court on Friday, 3 July.

Stuurman was also sentenced to a three-month concurrent sentence for possession of cannabis while Johnson was given a 12-month concurrent sentence for acquiring criminal property.

Police initially stopped and searched a car in South Ockendon at around 9.35pm on Saturday, 4 May 2019. They found a large amount of crack cocaine and heroin inside and arrested Johnson at the scene.

Officers checked his phone and found a number of messages were recently sent regarding drug dealing activities. They also found a hotel key fob for a room registered in the name fo Agne Vaituleviciute.

A staff member at the hotel remembered seeing Johnson with Vaituleviciute and police searched her room.

They discovered it had been set up in order to stash, cut and package Class A drugs. Both Johnson and Vaituleviciute were taken in for questioning.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage showed Stuurman visiting the hotel room and officers found his DNA inside.

He was arrested in South Ockendon on Monday, 8 July. Officers seized his phone which had evidence of his drug-dealing activities.

“Following some quick actions we were able to arrest Johnson moments after he sent dozens of messages concerning drug supply,” said Inspector Scott Fitzmaurice.

“We quickly identified the hotel and hotel room he was staying at before discovering evidence of the preparation and packaging of drugs.

“Stuurman believed he had escaped but he thought wrong and following some investigative work and determination, he was arrested and put before a court.

“Both men now have plenty of time to think about their actions in prison.”

Vaituleviciute, 21, of Nicholas Close, South Ockendon, received 18 months in prison, suspended for 24 months, for being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin.

She also received a suspended sentence for possession of cannabis and she will have to complete unpaid work.
