Emergency services rushed to the junction of Romford Road and Crosby Road at around 3.20am on Friday, 24 July.
The cyclist, named today as 31-year-old Jay Kristiansen, was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Sadly, he passed away yesterday.
The driver of the car believed to be involved did not stop at the scene.
Investigators arrested a man, aged in his 20s, yesterday on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been released on bail to return on a date in late August.
