A woman who was found dead in Dagenham at the weekend was a mother of four who worked at King George Hospital.

Esther Egbon, 30, had been a healthcare assistant at the hospital in Goodmayes for two years.

She was found unresponsive in Whalebone Lane South at around 12.50pm on Saturday.

Emergency services attended but she was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered a knife wound to the neck.

In a statement posted on social media, Tony Chambers, the chief executive of BHRUT, the trust that runs the hospital, said he was shocked and saddened by her death.

“She will be remembered for her kind and caring nature,” Tony said. “She was always smiling and incredibly hardworking.

“Our thoughts are with her family, especially her four young children, and her friends at this difficult time.”

Around two hours after Esther was found injured, the body of a man was found in nearby Gosfield Road.

Police have named his as Igie Erabor, who was 36-years-old.

He also suffered a knife wound to the neck.

Investigators say the pair were known to each other and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
