Police were called to the incident at around 7.37am this morning, near Barking Industrial Estate.
Two lanes were blocked eastbound just before the Lodge Avenue Flyover.
Both directions, however, faced delays due to the incident.
Police and London Ambulance Service attended the scene.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.52am today to reports of an assault following a collision off Alfreds Way, Barking.”
“We dispatched an ambulance crew and assessed a man at the scene but did not take him to hospital.”
