Funding to help the homeless has been allocated to Thurrock Council (credit: Google Maps)
The funding is part of the £91.5million total that’s been allocated to 274 councils across England.
Thurrock’s allocated money will be spent on continuing to provide interim accommodation to those who were housed during lockdown.
Ongoing support to help the vulnerable find their own homes in the private rented sector and securing accommodation such as supported housing will continue to be offered.
The funding will also be used to help keep residents safe during the winter months.
Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Barry Johnson, said: “I would like to thank the government for this funding.
“It will ensure that vulnerable people and rough sleepers continue to have safe accommodation.
“No one should have to face this pandemic on the streets and we will continue to work hard to ensure everyone in Thurrock has access to accommodation and the care and support they need.
“We want everyone in the borough to experience good quality living conditions and will continue to work with the government, private landlords, developers and housing associations to make sure our residents have access to good homes.”
