Police appeal for witnesses to Wanstead sexual assaults to come forward

Four women reported being assaulted last Thursday

Police investigating a series of sexual assaults in Wanstead are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Four women reported they had been attacked in separate incidents in and around Roding Valley Park on Thursday (17, September) afternoon.

The suspect was described as black, aged 17- to 20-years-old, 5ft 10ins to 6ft, slim build with brown eyes.

He was wearing a durag and dark clothing.

Officers from the East Area Command Unit, which polices Barking and Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge, are continuing to carry out enquiries and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Tachauer said: “My team of detectives is continuing to progress this investigation and I would encourage anyone who saw a man matching the description in the area to call police.

“Importantly, if anyone has been a victim too, and not reported to police, I would please ask you to come forward. I have a dedicated and specialist team of detectives who will be able to assist and support you.”

Any witnesses, or anyone with any information, can call police on 101 or contact via Twitter @MetCC, quoting CAD 6920/17SEP.

To give information anonymously, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

A man, aged 21, was arrested by investigators. Police say he has been “charged with one matter and released under investigation for three others.”
