Hays Travel, based in The Brewery, are appealing for residents to donate goods ranging from mince pies and cakes to Christmas crackers and selection boxes.
“We need more,” said assistant manager, Kerry Sullivan. “Even if it’s a packet of biscuits, it doesn’t matter, you’re helping.
“It’s such a feelgood factor as well, just such a nice thing to do and help the community.”
Hays Travel are also asking people to nominate someone they believe deserves to receive a Christmas box.
“We know there are people out there who might not want to ask for help but somebody might recognise they are on their own, or they are in particular hardship or there’s a family and they are struggling,” added Kerry.
“There’s so many people struggling and we’ve had a couple of nominations and some of the stories just really touch your heart.”
Kerry said even bringing in some chocolate coins will help put a smile on the face of a child somewhere.
Nominations can be made on the Hays Travel’s Facebook page or by visiting staff inside the store.
All donated goods must have a long shelf life.
