Two weeks of lane closures at Gallows Corner due to damaged safety barrier

Road users have experienced delays this week and they could continue (credit: Google Maps)

Drivers could face delays at Gallows Corner for the next two weeks due to a damaged safety barrier, Time 107.5FM has learned.

Motorists have been left frustrated this week while sewer works were carried out and that is due to finish today.

But the misery could continue until the middle of November, after it emerged that there is a fault with a safety barrier.

The flyover will be open, but one lane will be closed on the Gallows Corner roundabout to allow the work to be carried out on the Marin Road side of the junction.

A spokesperson for Transport for London confirmed the closure, telling Time 107.5FM: “The inner ring lane on the roundabout below the flyover will remain closed due to a damaged safety barrier. This is expected to be in place for approximately two weeks while this is repaired.”

Meanwhile, the MP for Romford says this week’s mayhem highlights the need for significant improvements at the junction.

Andrew Rosindell described Gallows Corner as “one of the most dangerous junctions in the country” and “for minor works to cause such problems is indicative of the desperate need to upgrade the flyover.”
