Director Liza Vallance says people can expect escapism, fun and creativity (credit: Studio 3 Arts)
Ashley J. has adapted Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale for Studio 3 Arts but with a twist.
Unlike the original story, audiences will join Princess Sky as she searches for her perfect prince rather than the other way around.
“Our message is that you are complete and you are whole and you are wonderful with or without a partner in your life,” said director, Liza Vallance. “You don’t need a partner in order to be complete, you are absolutely fabulous by yourself.
“There’s also some themes in there about women empowerment which I think is really important for us to inspire some young girls but also the male characters in the show really hold their own as well.”
The show stars Rosie Marie Christian, whose previously performed in The Canterville Ghost at the Unicorn Theatre, as well as Razark Osman and Will Frazer.
It is being performed at Eastbury Manor House, which dates back to the Elizabethan period.
“For anyone who has never been, it is worth coming along just to see the house,” added Liza.
“The performance will tour the grand floor of the house so all the different scenes will take place in all the different rooms on the grand floor.”
Studio 3 Arts has taken steps to ensure the production is Covid secure. It launches today and will run until Sunday, 20 December.
