Driver pleads guilty to causing death of taxi driver on A128 in Orsett

A man from Newbury Park has admitted to causing the death of a 65-year-old taxi driver in Orsett.

Norman Bullock passed away after a collision on the A128 on Monday, 5 October.

His red Peugeot 308 was struck by a black BMW X5. The vehicle’s driver, Edvinas Pupkis, fled the scene.

Pupkis, 21, was later arrested by police and charged.

He appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Friday, 11 December, when he pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and failing to report a collision.

Pupkis will be sentenced on Tuesday, 22 December.
